Buddy Walk 2010

Recently we were able to participate in the Utah Down Syndrome Awareness Buddy Walk. This is our little angel Justin. I can't even tell you how much I love this boy. I feel so blessed to know him. His parents are good friends of ours and we just love the Quick Family! Here we are in our Buddy Walk shirts...

Kyle had to work that day so Sarah came with us. Justin is actually HER nephew now. :)
They had all kinds of fun things there. The girls had a blast!
Here I am with a couple of my best friends...Emily (Justin's Mama) and Mindy. I love these girls!
It was a beautiful day and we left feeling overwhelmingly grateful to have these beautiful angels in our life.

We look forward to next year!!!

Find The Cure...

As most of you know, I am very passionate about Cancer Research and Awareness. It's very personal. I got this shirt that is PERFECT!

Perfectly said. :) Please be aware and support cancer research. We NEED to find a cure for this horrible disease. Someone I love is waiting...

We ♥ our Trampoline!

Apparently sleeping on trampolines is a big thing here in Utah. Kay and Shay have always wanted to do it, but it just made me nervous and I'm not sure why. Well, we finally let them do it last month. They loved it! I actually layed out there with them for hours and fell in love myself. It was so refreshing listening to all the crickets and hearing the breeze blow through the willow leaves. The skies here in UT are to die for also!
This will definitely be a common thing for us now. :)

A REAL Cute Story

This is a cute story. So, recently Suzie dyed her hair and went just a little bit darker. Scott, the girls and I were at the tennis courts playing tennis when Suz came by to get our opinion. It was weird how similar her new color was to Shayla's! They were total twins. Shayla was so giddy and excited that Suzie wanted to "match her". She was continually grinning ear to ear and hugging Suz over and over. This picture melts me.. TWINS!

One of the many hugs...
I always joke that Shay looks more like Suzie's daughter than MINE, and this sealed the deal. How cute are they?
I love my "twins". :)

The Little Things

As most of you know, Scott works A LOT and is also in school. So...we don't see him very much. We started this new little tradition of having a picnic lunch once a week so we can at least see him then. It doesn't always work out, but when it does it's GREAT! This day was GORGEOUS so we decided to get a pizza and head to a park right by our house.

This picture does no justice (of coarse) but there was an incredible circle rainbow surrounding the sun. It was breathtaking.
The girls had fun, as always.
They love spending time with Daddy!
This is actually very ironic. This is a mountain right by our house. While eating lunch Scott and I were admiring how beautiful it was. You could clearly see all the colors changing and it looked so pretty, so I took a picture. Why is that ironic? Because 3 days later a massive fire out here burned it to a crisp! (I will post about that soon) Weird, huh?

I am just thankful for the little things in life. I'm thankful that I have a husband, even if he is gone a lot. I am thankful that my girls have such a wonderful man to call their Daddy. I'm thankful for the opportunity I have of having Scott work close enough that we CAN meet up here and there. Some women don't have that. That's all.

I Love To See The Temple

Last month I was able to accomplish one of the things I have been looking forward to for YEARS....to be with my sister, Sarah, when she goes through the Salt Lake Temple for the first time! I LOVE having Sarah here now and being able to go on double dates with her and Kyle ROCKS! This particular night we went out to dinner and then to the Temple.
I LOVE my man....♥ Kyle and Sarah ♥

My baby sister and I ♥
Our adorable hubbies ♥
It was a beautiful night! Being able to share that experience with Sarah was amazing. It turned out that it was Kyle's first time there too, so it was double special! I can't wait to go again soon...

Daddy/Daughter Hike

Last month was our Activity Days Daddy/Daughter Hike. Since I am one of the leaders and Kaleigh and Scott were one of the Daddy/Daughter participants, it turned into a family affair for us. The girls were SO excited...We served breakfast at one of the rest areas along the way.

Daddy and Daughter...♥
The group shot. Attendance was OK. We were missing about half.
Me and the older girls' leaders...

I was really happy with how it turned out, but think it could have been much more special for Kaleigh without everyone else in tow. I will keep that in mind for next year... :)

Student of the Week

Last month Shayla was awarded "Student of the Week". She was so excited and got all kinds of fun recognition at school. She got the award for "academic excellence". Go Shay Shay!!! One of the things she was given was a certificate from Papa Murphy's for a free tub of cookie dough. She couldn't wait. She was quite tickled to have her very own batch of cookie dough and couldn't wait to make cookies for the family.

And so she did...
I must say...they were the WORST cookies I've ever had. Poor Shayla! I wish I could have caught her reaction to their ugliness when I pulled them out of the oven. We all did a good job of making her feel like they were fine anyways. Needless to say, we won't be buying their cookie dough EVER!
It's the thought that counts anyways, right? lol

A Perfect Night

Well, Scott is gone on a camp out with his Scouts. The girls and I miss him and decided to make the best of it. They wanted to go to Target and spend their Birthday money, so we did. They got some great stuff! Then we decided to head to this place and get our favorite....The Papa John's Spinach Alfredo Pizza with a side of chicken tenders. Yum!

Then we rented this movie from Redbox. We went home, snuggled up together under our favorite blanket and ate delicious food and watched a movie. It was a great movie and we LOVED snuggling. I thought the night couldn't get any better, but it did.
The girls wanted to sleep together in Peyton's big bed so after getting ready I tucked them in and read them "I Am A Child Of God" by Wendy and Michael Nelsen. It was beautiful. Then we all sang "I am a child of God" together. While we were singing Shayla started to tear up and had to wipe tears away. It was precious. After the song I asked her why she started crying and she replied, "Because I just feel so happy that you're my Mom. You're the best!". I cannot even put into words how sweet those words and raw emotions were! I cried and then we all said prayer. She is an angel.

At that moment ALL the hard work of raising young children became so absolutely worth it. Her words touched my soul deeply. I am so thankful to my Heavenly Father for placing these beautiful girls in my life. They teach me, love me, help me and most importantly make me want to be the best person I can be. I have the words of the song we sang playing over and over again in my head and it's beautiful. I have continued to ponder the verses throughout the night and thought about them and how they apply to my life. I feel that the chorus is like my plea to my Father in Heaven as I change the words a little. "Lead them, guide them, walk beside them. Help them find the way. Teach them all that they must do to live with you someday".

What little angels I have in my life! I LOVE my daughters with every fiber of my being. If I love them that much I can only imagine how much their Father in Heaven loves them. I can't help but think about the positive impact I can have on these girls if I continue to strive to work with my Heavenly Father to raise them TOGETHER. And that is all. What a perfect night...
