Our August Family Outing

Once a month Scott and I do what's called "Family Outing" day. We alternate taking turns to plan the whole day out and surprise each other. This Saturday was my turn so I took the fam to Silver Lake up in Big Cottonwood Canyon. It was breathtaking! I am so thankful to live only 40 minutes from this beautiful place! We hiked to the far other side of the lake and then had a picnic on a blanket. It was gorgeous! We had so much fun just sitting there eating and taking in the beautiful surroundings. Out of nowhere huge thunderheads moved in and the lightening started and before we knew it... it was pouring rain! Luckily I had packed a huge umbrella (just in case) so we stayed completely dry. Until we had to leave. The storm kept getting more intense so we decided we should probably head out. We had to hike all the way back in the pouring rain! There was hail the size of skittles and the trail became pure mud up to your ankles. The girls and I managed to stay pretty dry because of the umbrella. Not our feet of coarse. Scott, on the other hand, was dripping wet head to toe! The poor thing had to drive all the way home dripping. He didn't complain once though. Stud!!! We thought the whole experience was hilarious and very memorable. It was a beautiful day!!!
