Our August Family Outing

Once a month Scott and I do what's called "Family Outing" day. We alternate taking turns to plan the whole day out and surprise each other. This Saturday was my turn so I took the fam to Silver Lake up in Big Cottonwood Canyon. It was breathtaking! I am so thankful to live only 40 minutes from this beautiful place! We hiked to the far other side of the lake and then had a picnic on a blanket. It was gorgeous! We had so much fun just sitting there eating and taking in the beautiful surroundings. Out of nowhere huge thunderheads moved in and the lightening started and before we knew it... it was pouring rain! Luckily I had packed a huge umbrella (just in case) so we stayed completely dry. Until we had to leave. The storm kept getting more intense so we decided we should probably head out. We had to hike all the way back in the pouring rain! There was hail the size of skittles and the trail became pure mud up to your ankles. The girls and I managed to stay pretty dry because of the umbrella. Not our feet of coarse. Scott, on the other hand, was dripping wet head to toe! The poor thing had to drive all the way home dripping. He didn't complain once though. Stud!!! We thought the whole experience was hilarious and very memorable. It was a beautiful day!!!

A fun Friday night

Tonight I got to babysit Axton while Danny and Megan went out. I had so much fun kissing his face off! He was such a good little boy and loved smiling and cooing at me. It melted my heart! The funniest part of it all was when we went out to dinner with him with us. We got so many stares and even had a couple people make comments to us about having our hands full with 2 babies. It was hilarious! Come on people. I can't wait to watch him again....
Uncle Scott's turn. Peyton loved her little cousin and kept trying to grab him.
After Danny and Megan picked up Axton we headed off to the Kick Off Celebration Carnival for Kaleigh's new school. We enrolled her in a charter school that is being built by us called Providence Hall. She will start 1st grade on September 2nd. It was a lot of fun and the girls had a blast!
Daddy and Peyton checking it out...
The girls kept hinting that they wanted cotton candy and of coarse mommy gave in! Fun family times.....

I'd Say I'm Obsessed!

So this morning I got an email from my friend April commenting on how she saw some vinyl lettering on my wall. She proceeded to say that she has always wanted to do it but wasn't sure if she'd like it once it was up. It got me thinking. I knew I loved the walls I'd done so I walked around my house and counted how many walls I've "lettered" on. 15!!!!! I was laughing so hard and decided I HAD to document it. So, April, this one's for you!!!! :)

The Dark Knight

Holy cow!!! Talk about a GREAT movie....After we got the girls down last night, Scott, Suzie and I saw The Dark Knight at 10:10. (Thanks Jules for staying at our house with our sleeping kiddos) It was AMAZING!!! I am usually not one to get all hot and bothered about a stinking movie, but I can't help it this time. If you haven't seen it, YOU MUST! I can't wait to see it again. The action and suspense is literally non-stop. Heath Ledger (God rest his soul) did an absolutely incredible job as the Joker. I have to say, it is the best acting I have ever seen! WE LOVED IT!!!!

Trip out!

Yesterday morning was weird for me. Now, first you must understand that I am one of those "control freak" moms who does EVERYTHING for her kids. I am doing them a disservice, I know! Anyhow, I had been in my bathroom doing my hair and makeup and came out to find what I pictured above. Kaleigh had got up, got dressed, made her bed, brushed her teeth, did her hair AND GOT HER OWN CEREAL!!!!! I had no idea she was even up!!! Now, for you moms whose kids do this all the time, no big deal, right? But for me it was HUGE! She did it today too. It's moments like these that you realize your kids are growing up faster than you think (or will admit). Crazy!

Prison Break

Well, after many attempts at trying to launch herself out of her crib, we were already forced to move Peyton's crib down to the lowest level. She looks so funny in it because it makes it look like a prison. She just stands there looking at you with a very confused look on her face. It's too funny!

Movie in the Park

In Herriman they have what's called "Movie in the Park" nights every other week through July and August. Tons of people go. They set up at one of the huge parks and have a enormous screen and you just come and set up lawn chairs and blankets and eat lots of junk food while enjoying a flick under the stars. Last night featured "Cars" and then "August Rush". It's soooo much fun! We LOVE it! We were lucky enough to have Aunt Suzie join us. Peyton wasn't very cooperative (because it was her bedtime AND she is already on a napping strike....yah, i know!) but we had a blast. After Cars, Scott and the girls headed home for some much needed zzzz's while Suzie and I stayed and had nachos and watched August Rush. Although the movie was totally stinking lame we loved staring up at the stars and watching the lightening in the distance. We even saw 2 shooting stars! The sky here is unbelievable!!! We got home a little after 1am and then she spent the night. Great night!
